Mr. Michael McGhee, is a retired member of the Senior Executive Service in the U.S. Department of Defense. In his most recent assignments, he was the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, and the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy Resilience and Optimization. In these positions, he provided policy and governance for programs and activities that enabled resilience and cyber-secure energy for weapon systems and installations. He was responsible for budgetary, policy, and management oversight of programs with more than $1B in direct annual expenditures, as well unique and innovative efforts to increase energy resilience, reduce energy risk, and improve energy performance for defense platforms and activities worldwide. Prior to his most recent assignments in the Department of Defense, Mr. McGhee served as the Director for Clean Energy in the Executive Office of the President at the Council on Environmental Quality where he led efforts to develop strategy and policy for facilitating clean energy across Federal government operations. He was also the Executive Director for the U.S. Army’s Office of Energy Initiatives, where he developed partnerships and alternative financing for projects that provide resilient, affordable, and sustainable energy for Army installations. He is a former U.S. Air Force officer and licensed Professional Engineer.
