Stay connected to our Partners

On the last day of the Roadshow, each of our partners presented a workshop to help connect your rural community or cooperative with potential funding or technical support. Each workshop ran twice, giving each person the opportunity to attend two! Find out more below.

Beneficial Electrification League

Our partners from the Beneficial Electrification League will be leading a workshop discussing opportunities around further electrification of the economy.

BEL is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2018 with a mission to increase understanding of how beneficial electrification can save consumers money, improve air quality and lower emissions, foster a more robust and resilient grid, and improve quality of life.

Workshop - Develop a winning Federal Grant Applications with the Beneficial Electrification League

Advances in end-use technology and low-carbon electric generation, coupled with improvements in grid connectivity and consumer awareness and acceptance, have increased the value of beneficial electrification - from electric vehicles, school buses, home heating, to agricultural applications and lawn equipment. This session will discuss opportunities and challenges around further electrification of our economy.

In addition, Uncle Sam is opening his pocketbook for Federal infrastructure investments that can be used toward beneficial electrification programs and projects. While the concept of beneficial electrification is appealing, the question remains – how do we implement, and how do we provide equity and access to technology that will benefit consumers and save money, yet come with an up front cost and investment?

The Milken Institute

Our partners at the Milken Institute will be providing a bootcamp-style, interactive session on predevelopment capital and sequencing your project activities.

The Milken Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank focused on accelerating measurable progress on the path to a meaningful life. With a focus on financial, physical, mental, and environmental health, we bring together the best ideas and innovative resourcing to develop blueprints for tackling some of our most critical global issues through the lens of what’s pressing now and what’s coming next.

Workshop - Introducing the Community Infrastructure Center: Connect with resources and funders to deploy your community infrastructure project

During this prep session, we will walk you through getting your projects loaded into the Community Infrastructure Center (CIC), so that during our deep-dive workshop on Friday morning, we can jump into how to utilize the CIC to assess your project, identify funding, and financing pathways, and identify partners and resources to advance your project.

The Rural Climate Partnership

Our partners at the Rural Climate Partners will be leading a workshop on bringing in private capital providers and foundations to outline how to leverage varying pre-development funds and financing to advance a project to prepare for broader implementation dollars.

The Rural Climate Partnership is a new funding collaborative built to address a straightforward reality: We need change in rural America to achieve an ambitious climate agenda, meet emissions-reduction targets, and authentically foster equity and environmental justice. Our theory of change centers hardworking people, small businesses, and family farmers as the drivers of local economies and rural-led climate solutions. Utilizing a place-based, sustainable job, and economic development strategy, we empower communities to protect what they love about where they live. With a focus on clean energy, regenerative agriculture, narrative transformation, and securing federal funding for rural communities, we work towards accelerating clean energy deployment, expanding climate-smart farming practices, combating misinformation, and ensuring rural areas benefit from federal climate dollars. Through grantmaking, technical assistance, policy advocacy, and narrative infrastructure, we work to reduce energy costs for families, empower small businesses, and provide opportunities for rural communities to thrive sustainably.

Workshop - Left Out or Opting In? Ensuring Massive Opportunities Land in Rural Communities

It's no secret that philanthropy and government have historically under-invested in rural communities. But now, small-town folks have more tools and opportunities than ever to benefit from changing energy and agricultural systems. During this session, Josh Ewing of the Rural Climate Partnership will discuss the philanthropic funding landscape for rural communities and strategies for stacking philanthropic grants and technical support to “leverage up” federal awards. Josh will also highlight some of the top federal funding opportunities for rural communities and give advice on honing your fundraising pitch.
